FAQs
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
1
You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people I work with are still managing their day-to-day lives, but feel overwhelmed, stuck, or not like themselves. If something in your life isn’t working the way it used to, therapy can help you understand what’s going on and find a way forward.
What issues do you help with?
2
I work with adults navigating cancer, caregiving stress, relationship challenges, pet loss, workplace stress, and major life transitions. This can include loss, divorce, burnout, or supporting a loved one through illness or addiction. If you’re feeling stretched beyond your coping skills, we can work through it together.
What is your approach to therapy?
3
My work is solution-focused and grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We’ll focus on helping you slow things down, gain clarity, and make decisions that align with what matters most to you. I also believe your strengths are an important part of the process, not just the challenges you’re facing.
What can I expect in the first session?
4
The first session is a conversation. We’ll talk about what’s been going on, what’s bringing you in, and what you’d like to feel or experience differently. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out. My goal is to understand you and begin identifying how I can support you.
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
5
I offer both in-person sessions at my office in Chicago’s Loop and virtual sessions via secure telehealth for clients located anywhere in Illinois. You can select which one you’d prefer when you book a session here.
How long does therapy usually last?
6
It depends on your goals and what you’re working through. Some people come for short-term support during a specific transition, while others choose to stay longer to work more deeply. We’ll regularly check in on what feels helpful and adjust as needed.
Do you accept insurance or offer reimbursement?
7
I am in-network with Blue Cross PPO and United Healthcare PPO. If you have a plan with out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill for reimbursement. I’m happy to help you understand your options.
How much do sessions cost?
8
Session fees can vary depending on your insurance coverage and whether you’re using in-network or out-of-network benefits. I’m happy to walk you through the details during a consultation so you have a clear understanding before getting started.
Is everything I share confidential?
9
Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential. There are a few legal exceptions related to safety concerns, such as risk of harm to yourself or others, but we can go over those together so you feel fully informed.
What if I don’t feel “bad enough” for therapy?
10
You don’t have to wait until things feel unmanageable to come in. Therapy can be helpful anytime something feels off, even if you can’t fully explain it yet. Getting support earlier often makes things feel more manageable and gives you more options moving forward.
